It is observed that the temperature of the surroundings starts falling when the ice in a frozen lake starts melting. Give a reason for the observation.
Solution:
When ice converts into water it needs a high amount of heat energy required. Therefore when frozen lake starts melting it absorbed a large amount of heat from the surrounding. As a result, the temperature of the surrounding falls and it becomes very cold.
