The bacteria are classified depending upon their reaction to Gram' strain. They are Gram positive if, they take stain and Gram negative if do not take stain. Peptidoglycan forms a structural network of cell wall, known as mucopeptide. Murein or mucopeptide is 70−80% in Gram (+ve) and 10−20% in Gram (-ve) bacteria.
