Bryophytes non-vascular plant of moist damp habitat are regarded as amphibian of plant kingdom. Life cycle in bryophytes is heteromorphic or heterologous alternation of generation. It is characterised by multicellular haploid and independent gametophyte and dependent multicellular and diploid sporophyte as it is attached and dependent on gametophyte. Sporophyte in bryophyte is also known as sporangium.
