CALCULATIONS:

Let the current age of Parth be 3x and Priyanka’s age be 2x
5 years hence, there ages will be 3x + 5, and 2x + 5.

⇒ 9x + 15 = 8x + 20
⇒ 9x – 8x = 20 – 15 = 5
⇒ x = 5
⇒ Present age of Parth = 3x = 15
⇒Present age of Priyanka = 2x = 10
Age of Parth 5 years ago = 15 – 5 = 10 years
Age of Priyanka 5 years ago = 10–5 = 5 years
⇒ Addition of Parth and Priyanka’s age 5 years ago = 10 + 5 = 15 years
∴ The sum of Parth and Priyanka’s age before 5 years was 15 years.
