National Institute of Gender Justice, on 3 March 2015, honoured Rani Mukerji with the National Award for the Best Representation of the Cause of Safety, Security and Protection of Women and Girl Child. She received the award for creating awareness about child trafficking in New Delhi. She is the first ever film personality to be felicitated with this prestigious award.
