Proxy servers are used in intranets or extranets (a computer network that allows controlled access from outside of an organization’s intranet). Using client computers in an organization are not connected directly to the internet. These are connected to the Internet through proxy servers. Clients make a request to the proxy server which contacts the remote server, based on the requests of client computers. Proxy server, as the name applies, acts on behalf of all computers connected to the intranet or extranet
