Let CP be 100x.
$\mathit{S}{\mathit{P}}_1=100\mathit{x}\times \left(125/100\right)=125\mathit{x}$
$\mathit{S}{\mathit{P}}_2=100\mathit{x}\times \left(128/100\right)=128\mathit{x}$
According to question
$128\mathit{x}-125\mathit{x}=51$
$\Rightarrow 3\mathit{x}=51$
⇒ x = 17
∴ Cost price $=100\mathit{x}=100\times 17=1700.$
