If ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral in which ∠A = 4x°, ∠B = 7x°, ∠C = 5y°, ∠D = y°, then x : y is

Solution:

∵ Sum of opposite angles of cyclic quadrilateral is 180°
∴ In cyclic quadrilateral ABCD

∠A + ∠C = 180°

⇒ 4x°+ 5y° = 180°

……(1)
And,

∠B + ∠D = 180°

⇒ 7x°+ y° = 180°

……(2)
From (1) and (2)

4x°+ 5y° = 7x°+ y°

⇒ 3x = 4y

⇒ x{/}y = 4{/}3

⇒ x : y = 4 : 3
