Expenditure on other items = 70% of 80x
⇒ 56x
Total expenditure $=\left(20\mathit{x}+56\mathit{x}\right)$
⇒ 76x
Savings $=100\mathit{x}\mathit{–}76\mathit{x}$
⇒ 24x
Difference between Savings and expenditure on education $=24\mathit{x}\mathit{–}20\mathit{x}$
⇒ 4x
Now, according to question
$4\mathit{x}=\mathit{R}\mathit{s}.1600$
$\Rightarrow 100\mathit{x}=\mathit{R}\mathit{s}.\left(1600/4\mathit{x}\right)\times 100\mathit{x}$
⇒ Rs. 40,000
∴ The income of man is Rs. 40,000
