Find the fraction.

Solution:

Let the fraction be

{x}/{y}

According to the question,
⇒

{x+2}/{y-1}={2}/{3}

....(i)

⇒3 x+6=2 y-2

⇒ 3 x-2 y =-8

{x+1}/{y+2} ={1}/{3}

....(ii)

⇒ 3 x+3=y+2 ⇒ 3 x-y=-1

On solving the Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get

x=2, y=2

Hence, required fraction

={2}/{7}
