(D) The British government proposed a plan known as the Mountbatten Plan, which was announced on 3rd June, 1947,that included the principle of the partition of British India. It was accepted by the British Government and the successor governments would be given the dominion status. Lord Mountbatten came to India with an aspiration to the partition of India and the speedy transfer of responsibility.
