The speed of a car is 6/5 speed of train. These cover the distance of 100 km in same time while car stops for 10 min. on the way for refuelling. What is speed of train?

Solution:

Let, speed of train is s km/hr
Then speed of car

=69/5

km/hr
From question,

100/s=100/({6s}/5)+10/60

100/s=500/{6s}+1/6

100/s-500/{6s}=1/6

{600-500}/{6s}==1/6

∴ s = 100 km/hr
i.e., speed of train = 100 km/h
