Solution:

Let

be the age of Rahul and

y

be the age of Preeti

⇒ x^{2}+y^{3}=7148

....(i)

x^{3}+y^{2}=5248

.....(ii)
On solving Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get

x=17

and

y=19
