On a test consisting 150 questions carrying 1 mark each, James answered 80% of the first 75 questions correctly. What per cent of other 75 questions does he need to answer correctly to score 60% on the entire exam?

Solution:

To score 60% on entire examination, number of question needed

= 60/100 ×150 = 90

Number of correct answer in Ist 75 questions

=80/100 × 75 = 60

Hence, number of correct answer needed in 2nd 75 questions = 90 – 60 = 30
Hence, percentage of questions needed in 2nd 75 questions

= 30/75 ×100 = 40%
