Two numbers are respectively 30% and 40% more than the third number. What is the ratio of the two numbers?

Solution:

Let the third number be x.
Then, first number = 130 % of x

=130/100x=13/10x

Second number

=140/100\of x=7/5x

∴ Ratio of the first two numbers

=13/10x:7/5x

= 65x : 70x

= 15 : 14
