(4) The statutory basis of DepositorEducation and AwarenessFund (DEAF) is Section26 A of the Banking RegulationAct, 1949. Under thescheme, the credit of any accountin India with any bankthat has not been operated for10 years or any deposit or anyamount remaining unclaimedfor more than 10 years has tobe credited to the fund withinthree months from the expiryof the said period of 10 years.
