Ashtadhyayi was written by the famous Sanskrit grammarian Panini who belonged to Shalasutra, near the present-day Lahore and lived around 150 B.C. His main works are Ashtadhyayi and Jambavati Jayam. In Ashtadyayi, he has composed nearly 4000 [3999]grammar sutras or aphorisms.
