‘Karen’ refers to a number of individual or ethnic groups who speak Sino-Tibetan language. Many of these groups do not share a common language or culture. These Karen groups reside primarily in Karen State, southern and southeastern Myanmar. Karen languages are spoken in lower Myanmar(Burma) and on the borders of Thailand.
