Formula Used:

Diagonal = $\sqrt{2}$ × side
Calculation:
Let, length of side of the square be x
According to the question,
${\mathit{x}}^2$ = 32
⇒ x = $\sqrt{32}$
⇒ x = $4\sqrt{2}$
∴ Length of the diagonal = $4\sqrt{2}\times \sqrt{2}$ = 8 cm
