(1) Swami Vivekananda was born on 12th January 1863 as Narendranath Dutta. To mark the birth anniversary of this social reformer, philosopher and thinker the Union government of India in 1984 declared 12th January as the National Youth Day. Observance of the day seeks to propagate the philosophy and the ideals of Swami Vivekananda for which he lived and worked so they act as a great source of inspiration for the Indian Youth.
