(b) Intercropping is an enclosed phenomenon for the practice of cultivating two or more crops in close proximity: in the same row or bed, or in rows or strips. Row-intercropping, mixed- intercropping, strip-intercropping and relay intercropping are significant types of intercropping. Crops produce increases with intercropping due to higher growth rate, reduction of weeds, pests and diseases and more effective use of resources.
