(1) Let the side of the square

=a

Area of square

=a^{2}

The new side of the square

= {a×(100+k)}{100}

According to the question,

[ {a(100+k)}/{100} ]^{2}=a^{2} × {169}/{100}

⇒

{a(100+k)}/{100}= {13 a}/{10}

⇒

100+k =130

∴

k =30
