Let marked price of monthly train pass = Rs. 100
When discount of 20% is given, ⇒ Selling price of ticket = $\frac{\left(100-20\right)}{100}\times 100=$ Rs.80
Let cost price = Rs. $\mathit{x}$
⇒ Profit % = $\frac{80-\mathit{x}}{\mathit{x}}\times 100=34$
⇒ $\frac{80-\mathit{x}}{\mathit{x}}=\frac{34}{100}=\frac{17}{50}$
⇒ $4000-50\mathit{x}=17\mathit{x}$
⇒ $17\mathit{x}+50\mathit{x}=67\mathit{x}=4000$
⇒ $\mathit{x}=\frac{4000}{67}=$ Rs. 59.70
If discount is 15%, ⇒ Selling price = $\frac{\left(100-15\right)}{100}\times 100=\mathit{R}\mathit{s}.85$
⇒ Profit % = $\frac{85-59.70}{59.70}\times 100$
= $\frac{2530}{59.70}\approx 42.375\%$
