Let the speed of the motorboat and stream be

v {\km} \/ {\h}

, respectively.
According to the question,
Downstream speed

=u+v={24}/{2}=12

Upstream speed

=u-v={10}/{1}=10

On adding Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get
