Sukumar Sen was the first Chief Election Commissioner of India. He served as Chief Election Commissioner from March 21, 1950 to December 19, 1958. He also served as first Chief Election Commissioner in Sudan. Chief Election Commissioner is appointed by the President of India. Chief Election Commissioner supervises the Election Commission of India. The Election Commission is a Constitutional body under the Article-324 of the Constitution.
