Solution:

Let cost price = Rs. 100
Markup % = 20%
⇒ Marked price =

100 + ( 20/100 ×100)

100 + 20 = Rs. 120

After allowing discount of 5%, ⇒ Selling price =

120 − ( 5/100 ×120)

120 − 6 = Rs. 114

∴ Profit % =

(114−100)/100×100 = 14%
