The denominator of a fraction is 3 more than its numerator. If the numerator is increased by 3 and the denominator is decreased by 2, we obtain 2. The sum of the numerator and denominator of the fraction is

Solution:

Let the numerator be x.
Then fraction

=x/{x+3}

Also, given :

{x+3}/{x+3-2}=2

then (x + 3) = 2(x + 1)
then x = 1
that give us x = 1 and x + 3 = 4
So, sum is x + x + 3 = 5
