While returning home he covered half of the distance at the speed of 10 km/hr, but suddenly he realized that he was getting late so he increased the speed and reached home by covering the remaining half of the distance at the speed of 30 km /hr. The average speed of Pankaj in the length of the whole journey is

={\Total \distance \covered}/{\Total \time \taken}

Let the distance from home to the post office be x.
Then, average speed

={x+x}/{x/60+x/2×10+x/2×30}
