Solution:

Slenderness

(λ) =I_{\eff}/r_{\min}

Now, radius of gyration,

r=√{I/a}=√{{π/64×D^4}/{π/4×D^2}}

=√{D^4/{16D^2}}=D/4

Hence slenderness,

λ=1/r=400/{D/4}={400×4}/40=40
