Shear strength of one rivet in single shear is given by,

Where, n = number of rivets per pitch
shear strength of double riveted double cover butt joint.

=2×2×π/4d^2=4×π/4d^2

n_1=4P_{\ss}⇒P_{\sd}=n.P_{\ss}
