Strip earthing is used by transmission lines earth conductor are designed for carrying fault current and their size is determined by the cross section required. However earth conductor also remain in touch with mother earth to collect fault current for which higher cross section area is require. For given cross section circular conductor would be having least surface area and strip having higher cross section area so, strip earthing use in transmission line.
