Determine the generated EMF of the given generator if the armature resistance is 0.1 Ω.

Solution:

Terminal voltage

Generated voltage

=\V+(\I_{a} ×\R_{a})

Armature current

= \I _{ a }= \text "load current" + \I _{{\sh }}

Field current

= \I _{{\sh }}

Armature resistance

= \R _{ a }=0.1 \ohms

=\R_{ \sh }=50 \ohms

\I _{ \sh }={ \V }/{ \R _{ \sh }}

=230/50=4.6\Amps

\I _{ a }= \text "load current" + \I _{{\sh }}

=450+4.6=454.6\Amps.

\E_{g} =\V+(\I_{a} ×\R_{a})

= 230 + 454.6 × 0.1

= 275.46 \Volts.
