Let the speeds of return journey and onward journey be x and

{5x}/4

km/hr, then

{4×400}/{5x}+{400}/x

= 17 - 1
⇒

{320+400}/x

= 16
∴ x =

{720}/{16}

= 45 km/hr
Hence, speed of onward journey =

{5×45}/{4}

{225}/4

= 56.25 km/hr
