Solution:

x+\;{1}/{x}=5

x^{2}+\;{1}/{x^{2}}+2=25 ⇒ x^{2}+\;{1}/{x^{2}}=23

⇒ x^{4}+\;{1}/{x^{4}}+2=529

⇒ x^{4}+\;{1}/{x^{4}}=527
