P's work is twice as much as Q. If both work together they finish a job in 12 days. If P works alone the number of days needed to complete that work?

Solution:

As P works twice as much as Q, the time taken by P will be half that of Q. If Q takes 2t, P take t.
Given

\;{1}/{t}+\;{1}/{2 t}=\;{1}/{12} ⇒ \;{1}/{t}=\;{1}/{18}

Hence

t=18
