Solution:

Part of the tank filled in three minutes

=3(\;{1}/{12}+\;{1}/{15})=\;{9}/{20}

Part of the tank to be filled

=11/20

The time taken to fill the remaining tank

=11/20×15

i.e

8{1/4}

days
Hence the total time taken

=11{1/4}

days
