(b) Eastern Himalayas and Western Ghat regions of India have been designated as biodiversity hotspots. Biodiversity Hotspot is a region which is not only a prime location for the existence of rich biodiversity,but also faces the threat of destruction. India is included in four Biodiversity Hotspots – the Western Ghats and Sri Lanka, the Eastern Himalayas, Indo-Burma and Sundaland.
