(a) Provision for appointment of National Commission for SC s and ST s has been made in the Constitution under article 338 and 338 A, respectively. The government had created a commission for SC sand ST s via a resolution in 1987.It was given constitutional status in ${65}^{\mathit{t}\mathit{h}}$Amendment Act, 1990 leading to creation of National Commission of SC s and ST s in 1992.
