(b) The stratospheric ozone layer protects the Earth’s biosphere from a large part of the ultraviolet radiation emitted by the sun. The main cause of ozone depletion are manufactured chemicals, especially manufactured halocarbon refrigerants, solvents, propellants and foam-blowing agents, referred to as Ozone-Depleting Substances(ODS).
