He was born on 14th August, 1774 to Ramakanta Roy and Tarini Devi in Radhanagar village of Hooghly district, Bengal Presidency. His first organisation was the Atmiya Sabha, founded in Calcutta in 1815. He was a great scholar and an independent thinker.
