Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India provides for setting up of Autonomous District Councils. As per the Sixth Schedule, the four states, viz., Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram contain the Tribal Areas which are technically different from the Scheduled Areas.
