The IRNSS, with an operational name of NavIC (an acronym for Navigation with Indian Constellation), is an Indian regional satellite navigation system that provides accurate real-time positioning and timing services. It covers India and a region extending 1,500 km around it , with plans for further extension. Hence statement A is Correct . The proposed IRNSS system will consist of a constellation of seven satellites and a supporting ground segment . Three of the satellites in the constellation will be placed in a geostationary orbit and the remaining four in ageosynchronous orbit. Such an arrangement would mean all seven satellites would have continuous radio visibility with Indian control stations. Hence statement B is Incorrect . The constellation is in orbit as of 2018, and the system was expected to be operational from early 2018 after a system check.
