(C) An offence committed under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes(Prevention of Atrocities) Act,1989, shall be investigated by a police officer not below the rank of Deputy Super intendent of Police. A District Magistrate or a Sub-Divisional Magistrate or any other Executive Magistrate can also be the Investigating Officer.
