(B) A Sitting Judge of the High Court or a Sitting District Judge can be appointed as a member of the State Human Rights Commission after consultation with the Chief Justice of the High Court of the concerned State. The Protection of Human Rights Act of 1993 provides for the creation of the State Human Rights Commission at the state level. It can inquire into violation of human rights related to subjects covered under state list and concurrent list in the seventh schedule of the Indian Constitution.
