The present ages of Chetna and Shikha are in the ratio 5:7 respectively. After 7 years, there ages will be in the ratio 11:14 respectively. What is the difference between their ages?

Solution:

Let present ages be 5x and 7x resp.
After 7 years -

{5x + 7}/{7x + 7}=11/4

70x + 98 = 77x + 77
7x = 21
x = 3
Age = 15 and 21
Difference in ages is 6 years
