The voltage and current in various branch in a long-shunt compound generator is given in the following network. Determine the generated EMF.

Solution:

\I _{1}=50 \A

\V _{ \t }=500 \V

\R _{ \a }=0.05 \Ω

\R _{ \sf }=0.03 \Ω

\R _{ \shf }=250 \Ω

\I _{ \a }= \I _{ \sh }+ \I _{1}

\I _{ \a }=2+50=52 \A

\E _{ \g }= \V _{ \t }+ \I _{ \a }( \R _{ \a }+ \R _{ \sf })

\E _{ \g }=500+52(0.05+0.03)

\E _{ \g }= 5 0 4 .16 \V
