(a) China has announced in December 2011 that it will set up its first military base abroad in the Indian Ocean Island of Seychelles and against that India is going to establish its first overseas military base on Assumption Island in Seychelles Archipelago, strengthening its naval presence in the Indian Ocean to counter the growing Chinese influence.
