(c) The Amendment Act defines the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI)as: District level, Intermediate level,Base level. The members of the Panchayat Samiti are directly elected by the people. Panchayat Samiti are the rural local government at intermediate level in PRI. They operate at Tehsil level and govern the villages of Tehsil. It also provides link between Gram Panchayat and Zila Parishad.
