(d) The Dutch East India Company was created in 1602 as ‘United East India Company’ and its first permanent trading post was in Indonesia. In India, they established the first factory in Machilipatnam in 1605, followed by Pulicat in 1610,Surat (1616–1795), Agra (1621–1720), Burhanpur, Kanpur (1650-1685), Ahmedabad (1617–1744),Bharuch and Vengurla (1637–1685). Their trading centres werealso located in Cochin,Nagapattinam, Chinsurah,Pondicherry, Patna and Pulicat.
