The height of Tehri dam is $260.5$ $\mathrm{m}$. It is the tallest dam in India. It is located across the Bhagirathi River near Tehri in Uttarakhand. It is a multi-purpose rock and earth-fill embankment dam. It was commissioned in the year 2006. The dam creates a reservoir of $4.0$ cubic kilometres with a surface area of 52 ${\mathrm{km}}^2$. The installed hydrocapacity is $1000\mathrm{MW}$ along with an additional $1000\mathrm{MW}$ of pumped storage hydroelectricity.
